The Kansas First Family kicks off the holiday season Wednesday with the delivery of the Kansas Christmas trees to the Governor’s official residence. The trees are presented annually by the Kansas Christmas Tree Growers Association to the Kansas First Family, and will be delivered by horse drawn wagons to Cedar Crest this Wednesday November 21st at 11am. Governor Sam Brownback, First Lady Mary Brownback and their children will be on hand for the delivery.
The nearly 9-foot Scotch Pine tree that will remain at Cedar Crest comes from the Windy Knoll Tree Farm, owned by Bob and Susan Grelinger, Derby. A horse drawn wagon owned by Robin Dunn, Dunn’s Landing, Wellsville, will deliver the tree. The Cedar Crest Christmas tree will be lit on Monday, November 26th during the presentation of the Kansas Holiday Ornament.
The tree that will be displayed at the Kansas Capitol during the holidays comes from Country Christmas Trees, owned by Eldon Clawson and Marlene Ewing, Wakarusa. 3-C Carriage Service, owned by Cecil Carter, White City, will deliver the tree. The 14-foot Scotch Pine will be lit on Friday, November 30th during an early evening ceremony open to the public.
Kasl Christmas Tree Farm, owned by Mike Kasl, will continue the long standing tradition of providing a wreath for Cedar Crest.
