Edward J. Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG)

Purpose
The purpose of the JAG grant program is to assist state and local units of government and tribes in supporting a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on state and local needs and conditions. JAG funds are used for the following purpose areas: (1) law enforcement programs; (2) prosecution and court programs; (3) prevention and education programs; (4) corrections and community corrections programs; (5) drug treatment programs; (6) planning, evaluation and technology improvement programs; (7) crime victim and witness programs. The grant program is administered by the Kansas Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.

Eligible Applicants
State and local units of governments, Native American tribes and not for profit and faith based organizations.

Funding Sources
U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance.
