Governor Sebelius directs flags to be lowered in honor of tsunami victims

The following is a statement by Governor Kathleen Sebelius:

“To pay respect to the hundreds of thousands of people who lost their lives and their homes during the holiday season due to the Indian Ocean earthquake and resulting Tsunamis, I join President George W. Bush this week in lowering all state flags. I urge all Kansans to honor these people as all flags are flown at half-staff beginning Monday, January 3 and ending on Friday, January 7, 2005.

“As Kansans, we know the devastation that natural disasters can cause. I encourage Kansans to support reliable relief efforts to help those who have been displaced from their homes. Our hearts and prayers go out to all of the tsunami victims.”
