Governor Sebelius announces nearly $100,000 for
supervised exchange & visitation services

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has announced nearly $100,000 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services State Access & Visitation Program (SAVP).

The primary objective is to enable communities to create programs, which support and facilitate access and visitation by non-custodial parents with their children.

“A parent’s involvement in their child’s life is crucial,” Sebelius said. “These programs help provide support and assistance to families so they are able to interact in a safe environment.”

Funding for the SAVP grant assists programs in providing supervised child exchange or visitation services for children and families at risk because of circumstances related to child abuse and neglect, sexual abuse, substance abuse, or domestic violence. Activities may include mediation, counseling, education, development of parenting plans, visitation enforcement, and development of guidelines for visitation and alternative custody arrangements.
