Sebelius reappoints Kansans to state boards and commissions Several Kansans will continue to provide oversight and guidance to a variety of state services after be reappointed to their posts by Governor Kathleen Sebelius. “Service to one’s community is an admirable quality and I am grateful for those who give their time, energy and expertise in serving their fellow Kansans,” Sebelius said. Jean Hogan, Wichita; Dr. Richard Maxfield, Topeka; and Jody Patterson, Concordia were reappointed four-year terms on the Behavioral Science Regulatory Board. This board protects the public’s health, safety and welfare from unlawful or unprofessional practitioners who fall under the board’s jurisdiction. Rodney Van Norden, Garden City, and Patricia O’Sullivan, Wichita, were reappointed to the State Board of Accountancy to serve three-year terms. This board licenses and regulates certified public accountants. Fred Holroyd, Topeka, was reappointed to the State Board of Mortuary Arts to serve a three-year term. This board ensures licensees perform their services in a professional manner and informs the public of the laws and options available to them when working with members of the funeral profession. Lou Ann Thoms, Topeka, was reappointed to a four-year term on the Kansas Human Rights Commission. This commission ensures equality of opportunity for all Kansans and investigates complaints alleging discrimination in the areas of employment, public accommodations and housing. # # # |
