Reform State Government

Government should always be accountable to the people. Accountability begins with transparency. A Brownback Administration will work to ensure that the actions undertaken by the state government are clearly explained and grounded in the equal application of the law. To that end, and in addition to the things we have promised to do our first month in office, we will work to Reform State Government:

  • Introduce and support passage of legislation for a Government Efficiency Commission to make recommendations for merging or eliminating government offices whose purposes overlap, are ineffective, or are no longer necessary.
  • Issue an executive order that makes department and agency budgets that are online understandable, transparent, and open to uniform analysis.
  • Provide economic impact statements on major policy initiatives so that the focus of the government’s actions will always be on growing jobs and the economy.
  • Introduce and support passage of legislation that requires proof of citizenship when registering to vote by mail. This will help reduce instances of voter fraud.
